Quilt Exhibit

Be Inspired while Learning about our Common History at the upcoming Quilt Show

Members of the community will exhibit quilts and demonstrate various quilting skills on August 23rd as part of Sudbury’s 375th Anniversary celebration! The exhibit will take place at the First Parish in Sudbury’s historic town center for all to see. The quilts will be on view between the hours of 10:00 and 4:00.

Included in the “Quilts through Time” display will be a few treasured and historically significant quilts from the Sudbury Historical Society’s collection, along with quilts created in the thirties, forties and more recent times.

Two of the quilts that will be on view were created by a group working together as was the tradition in the past. One of these is a friendship, or album quilt, that was signed by many women from Sudbury and dates from the 1850’s. In spite of its obvious ties to the town, the quilt was only acquired in recent years by the Sudbury Historical Society.

Another of the quilts that was made by many hands, Faith Evolving, is a contemporary quilt that was conceived and created as a response to the September 11, 2001 attack on our country.

Quilters from the Wayside Quilters Guild hold up the quilt,

"A Time to Remember" which is a contemporary quilt commemorating the 150th anniversary of the Civil War.  The quilt was designed and crafted by the Wayside Quilters and will be raffled at the 14th Quilt Show of the Wayside Quilters Guild of Sudbury on Saturday, October 18, 2014, 10am - 5pm. and Sunday, October 19, 2014, 10am - 4pm. at Lincoln Sudbury Regional High School, 390 Lincoln Road. Admission $6 on October 19. 2014.  Tickets at $1 each, or 6 for $5 can be purchased at the annual show.  To learn more about the Guild or to purchase Raffle tickets, contact info@waysidequilters.org.
